The 5 Most Important Considerations When Buying Corporate Workwear

By Robert Berry-Smith

If you are about to invest in some corporate clothing and workwear, then you may need a little help getting started.

Here are the five most important things to consider:

1. SAFETY The most important thing you'll have to consider will undoubtedly be the safety of your employees. In other words, you are going to need to make sure whatever workwear you buy meets all industry standards and requirements. Otherwise, your staff may be at risk and your company could be open to legal problems.

2. FUNCTIONALITY In addition to being safe, you also need to ensure the clothing you choose will help, not hinder, your employees in their line of duty. The best way to achieve this is by talking to your staff before you order and finding out what they think the work wear needs. If they need more pockets, give them more pockets. After all, you want productive staff and their complete buy-in once the clobber arrives.

3. DURABILITY Depending on the work being carried out, company workwear is going to be vulnerable to the elements. Maybe they'll get dirty easily or there's a potential for tearing or wearing. While some of this may be unavoidable, by choosing clothing that is durable, you can have the reassurance of knowing it will last a good while.

4. PROFESSIONALISM Studies have shown that staff who dress more professionally tend to work more effectively. So while a smart dress code may not be necessary, looking professional could still be very important. Not only that, but when there are staff in client and customer facing roles, they should always look professional and give a good first impression. Make sure the workwear you choose meets those expectations.

5. BRANDING Don't miss out on the opportunity to promote your business through the new clothing. By using company colours and the style of the clothes reflecting the ethos and type of work people can expect from your business, you can achieve brand consistency and give a good impression. But also, by including your company's contact information (name, telephone number, email address, website, etc) you may attract new customers.
